I first stumbled upon sophie blackall at i am a greedy girl where I saw her brilliant Missed Conections series...luckily I clicked on through and found these, among many other fantastic illustrations and curiosities that left me wanting to hunt down a small child to read aloud to.

the darker ones are even better...although they just might send the small child running...
