I stopped by the video library to return "Life through a lense" (documenting Annie Leibowitz's life and work) and came across a book of Magnum photography. After deciding it might not be polite to drool on books not mine, I came home and looked up a few photographers on the site. It is well worth a visit, with an amazing diversity of porfolios.
I read about Cartier Bressons concept of "the decisive moment" - in his words; "the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as the precise organization of forms which gives that event its proper expression." His uncanny, almost prophetic ability to predict what was about to happen and capture it as it was unfolding rendered the most poetic of images.
